Heronswood: Part II

I ended up going back to Heronswood the week after I went the first time, but this time I went with my lovely roommate, Tina! If you knew her, you’d know that she absolutely loves dressing up and is gardening and plants are one of her true loves in life after music.

The both of us weren’t feeling ourselves much that day, so we weren’t nearly as into the shoot as we should have been. In addition, Tina can be a bit difficult to shoot because she moves so much! However, the shots really do speak for themselves.

Part I: Heronswood

One of my best friends told me all about this stunning hidden garden in Kingston – she had previously gone with her husband and assured me it was definitely worth the trip.

I ended up taking a friday off of work so the two of us could go out there, all dressed up, and take pictures to our heart’s content.

Needless to say, Heronswood was everything she said it would be and I managed to get some absolutely lovely shots of her.

August 2017: Point No Point

One of the last Saturdays in August, one of my best friends and I decided to head out to Point No Point in Hansville to relax in the sand by the lighthouse and get some amazing pictures.

By the time we finished three hours later, we’d gotten a plethora of gorgeous photographs between the two of us and hardly any rest!

I really wanted to focus on those amazing braids and the lace up detail on the side of her swimsuit, but these are only a small sampling of the 2000+ photographs we took in that time.

July 2017: Oysterdome Hike

On the Fourth of July weekend this year, I chose to visit my sister up in Bellingham. She took me on one of her favorite hikes, Oysterdome, where she got engaged.

Unfortunately, it was pretty cloudy and foggy that day and I was not able to get any wonderful view shots. In fact – quite a few of the shots tended more towards the eerie side of things!

However, my sister was a great sport and a fantastic model for the day! It helps that she’s also an amazing yoga enthusiast.

Vintage Love Letters

One of the best things about my apartment, is my roommate and best friend. We’ve managed to cultivate a gorgeous and serene home between the two of us, and I feel very lucky to be a part of her fabulous life.

Sunday mornings tend to be time the two of us spend together, drinking french press and catching up on our lives. This particular morning, she sat down and wrote a love letter to her boyfriend and I had to snap a couple shots.

I feel very privileged to be “behind the scenes” of her fabulous life, and occasionally, I’m lucky enough to capture these moments.

Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve, Bainbridge Island

Awhile back, I picked a weekend to meander about on Bainbridge Island at the Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve. I wasn’t as happy with these photos as I have been with some others I’ve taken, but it was nice to be outside and enjoying nature on my day off.

August 2017: Eclipse

So on the morning of August 21, 2017, I woke up at 6:00 and got into my car at 6:20 AM to drive down in time to witness the totality of the eclipse in Salem, Oregon.

My goal was to get some stunning pictures of this once in a lifetime event. I ended up congregating with plenty of other people in a Target parking lot that had a great open view of the event.

In the truck next to me, were three guys who had driven up from California – one of them was kind enough to lend me his tripod, saying that I was likely to get better shots of the eclipse than he was. I seriously can’t thank him enough for that!

(After these shots, I then spent 8 hours on the road to make it back home.)

March 2017: Cape Flattery

Back in early March, I was asked on a date to Cape Flattery. I’m not sure the poor man realized what he had signed up for when I asked if I could bring my camera and he told me “yes.” I did warn him that he would get to be my model for the day.

(He has not asked me go on another hike.)

Friday Favs: Christmas Edition 2016

After almost 2 years of not blogging, I’ve come back! The past 2 years have been busy with friends, family, dating, and life in general – but I’ve always enjoyed writing and I’m happy to come back to doing something I previously enjoyed so much.

Since it’s close to the holidays, I figured i would throw together a quick post of of my holiday favorites for this year –

First up: These DELICIOUS cookies! I made this recipe last week and it is absolutely amazing in every way.

You can get the recipe here, though in full disclosure I’m pretty sure I accidentally dumped almost half the bottle of peppermint extract instead of using the recommended amount. They still turned out really well though! I definitely plan to make more of them in the future, considering I am absolutely addicted to peppermint.

Anyone who knows me, knows that my Christmas tree is always bird-themed. I just love having tons of the little clip-on birds on my tree! I saw the most gorgeous ornament at Pier One earlier this month, but it looks like it is sold out. These little guys are super cute though, and I would be delighted to add them to my tree!

You can buy them here, if you are also a bird-themed tree lover (As a bonus, they are currently on sale).

Decor-wise, I ended up realizing this year that I actually do not have nearly as much Christmas stuff as I thought I did. So I’ve been hunting down a lot of inspiration pictures.

My Christmas shopping was all done on Etsy this year (I was actually done by late October!). Because of that, I ran across a couple things I would love to add to my place for next Christmas.

Who wouldn’t want this gorgeous freaking wreath?

(Buy it here)

I’ve got tons and tons of candles (and 2 Scentsy warmers AND incense) but I’m a sucker for holiday scented candles.

This one in Apple Cider and this one in Peppermint Bark are just two of the fifteen or so I threw in my cart.¬† In case you weren’t sure if I enjoyed scented things, I also happen to have a sizeable perfume collection as well.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays everyone!

Inspiration: Fall Workwear

(Found here)

I’ve had to accept that summer is finally over – the rain has returned! On that note, I’ve started looking (reluctantly) towards the section of my closet that houses my menial amount of sweaters, coats, and jackets. I tend to be more of a summer girl – dresses, bare arms, sandals and ballet flats – however, that’s just not always possible in Washington! Out of necessity, I’ve been looking for outfits to wear to work over the next couple rainy months.

I’ve been feeling lots and lots of plaid. And of course, the usual: sweaters, boots, scarves, neutrals, layers, and simple patterns/prints.
