At this current point in time I am subscribed to 3 subscription box services: Birchbox, Ipsy, and Wantable Intimates. I have been subscribed to Birchbox since December 2013, Ipsy since January 2014, and I just started Wantable’s Intimates Box this month.
I’ve always loved the look of a classic red lip. When browsing lipsticks in any drug store, I am inevitably drawn to shades of red. Bright red.
Of course, love of color cannot entirely overcome fear of color – while I am automatically pulled towards these shades, I am terrified of wearing them out in public. A pale redhead wearing red lipstick might seem a bit like overkill, you think? In addition to that, I was worried about looking like a clown. So for years, I have been hunting for the perfect red. The red I will not be afraid to wear in public.
Here are swatches of each color on my inner arm:
From left to right: MAC’s Russian Red; MAC’s Ruby Woo; MAC’s Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick; MAC’s Viva Glam Rihanna Lipglass; Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery; L’oreal Colour Riche #179 Cherry Tulle; L’oreal Colour Riche #315 True Red; and Revlon’s Just Bitten Lipstain & Balm in Gothique/Gothic.
I apologize in advance for the strained smiles/crazy eyes – after awhile of taking pictures, you just want to hurry up and get a good one to go try the next color! Without further ado, here’s how all these reds stack up against each other on thin lips and very pale skin:
I’ve always loved the designer collaborations Target has done in the past (the notable exception being Jason Wu for Target because of the quality), so I looked forward to the release of Peter Pilotto for Target this Sunday. If you’re interested in viewing the look book, you can view it here.
Since it snowed Saturday night (and I live in rather rural area) the racks of Peter Pilotto for Target were completely untouched. So I snagged every item (mostly dresses, skirts and few shirts) and went to the dressing room. Unfortunately, I did not see any of the swimwear so I’ll have to go back and take another look.
For reference: I am 5’1″, approximately 120 lbs, and have an hourglass shape although I tend to carry a little more weight in my stomach/hips.
Peter Pilotto for Target Dress – Green Floral Print, $39.99. (See here).
I was pleasantly surprised by this dress – good quality fabric, lined (!!!), invisible zipper (!!!), and overall not terrible on my body – although I don’t prefer a dropwaist shape ever. The fit was decent as well. Definitely one of the pieces I liked more from this collection. I tried on a size small.
