March 2014 Subscription Box Reviews

At this point in time I am subscribed to 3 subscription box services: Birchbox, Ipsy, and Wantable Intimates. I have been subscribed to Birchbox since December 2013, Ipsy since January 2014, and Wantable’s Intimates Box since February 2014.

Birchbox, $10/month:

Birchbox seems to think I need a lot of moisturizers. They sent me two this month, and I received one last month as well. I really really can’t use that many different moisturizers without absolutely destroying my skin (I would be able to tell which products were hindering/helping at the rate I’m going). However, I do feel like this was a better month for me than February. I’ve giving Birchbox a 4/6 this month.

Top Left: Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment Plus – looking forward to trying this out. I love hair products, and this one is a 20 minute deep condition so I’ll be trying it out on one of my days off either on Sunday or Thursday.

Middle row: Gilchrist and Soames London Collection Body Lotion – I admit I groaned on receiving this. After all, what girl doesn’t have piles of body lotion laying about? I know I have an entire gigantic box full (gifts, ones I purchased, etc). To be fair, it’s not a bad product. I just really don’t need more body lotion.

DDF Ultra Lite Oil Free Moisturizing Dew – Just tried this out and it’s not bad. The smell isn’t awful, it is definitely a very light moisturizer and it hasn’t upset my skin so far. However, I still prefer my Philosophy moisturizer I currently use.

English Laundry No.7 for Her fragrance sample – To be honest, Birchbox hasn’t sent me a bad fragrance sample yet (thought I hated the top notes of the Juicy Couture fragrance, but it faded nicely). Since I’ve gotten a ton of fragrance samples (just about one in every box), I always end up stashing them in my purse since they’re so small and handy for freshening up throughout the day.

Bottom row: Ghirardelli Intense Dark Cherry Tango, 1 square – Definitely enjoyed this chocolate square. Super delicious! I always have loved Ghirardelli’s chocolate, though.

COOLA tinted matte SPF 30 for face – I LOVED this sample. It blended in well to my skin as well as made my skin feel soft and smooth. I’ll definitely consider purchasing this once my sample is used up (as long as I don’t run in to any issues with it).

Ipsy; $10/month:

Ipsy did much better for me here than last month! I’ve giving them a 4/4 – so they really hit it out of the ballpark for me.

Bottom row, left to right: Be a Bombshell Bora Bora Eyeshadow Quad – the colors are all relatively useable (except that blue, don’t know when I would use that).

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready is great color and good quality. It’s not full size, but I expect it will last me quite awhile. I’m planning to keep it in my purse for touch-ups. It’s the perfect purse-size lipstick.

Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer – I actually ran out of primer right before this arrived, so I figured this was perfect opportunity for me try a new one. This primer didn’t really work for me, unfortunately. My skin didn’t feel as smooth and soft as it usually does when I use primer, and I wasn’t fond of the shimmer. I might be spoiled though because I normally use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

Nicole by OPI Roughles Nail Polish in “On What Grounds?” – Nice color, and it’s a full size bottle of OPI. I’ve always loved OPI products, and this one isn’t bad though I’m not particular fond of textured nail polish.

Wantables Intimates; $36/month:

Wantable Intimates subscription box is always a winner in my book. Last month (my first month) it was far and away my favorite box. This month, it is keeping up its track record of items that I absolutely love (it gets a 4/4, as well). Wantable lists the prices of the items that they send, and I have included them below:

Left column: Q-T Intimates Heart Bra Clips – 3 pack ($9.00): Ironically, a couple days before I received my Wantable box I was lamenting the fact I didn’t have any of these bra clips since I was trying to wear a racerback top. Pretty timely of them to send me exactly what I was looking for a couple days later.

Whimsey by Lunaire Bikini Navy, size small; ($16.00): I love the detail on these panties, they’re also very cute and comfortable. Definitely high quality and they look (and feel) like they’ll last awhile.

Wantable Soft Bra in Black; ($20.00): Comfy and cozy. I really loved this soft bra and definitely prefer it over the bandeau I received last month. I’ll probably end up wearing this a lot – its very comfortable and I would fully recommend it.

Right column: Steve Madden Foldover Yoga Pant Peri Berry Size S, ($40.00); I am obsessed with these yoga pants. I keep wearing them to sleep or lounge around the house and they are insanely soft, in addition to being an absolutely gorgeous color.
